The 2026 edition of WikiConference North America was held in the City of Edmonton, which is the capital of the Alberta province of Canada. The official bird of the city is the black-billed magpie (Pica hudsonia). The bird has striking black and white colors, like a tuxedo. It also has iridescent blue wings and tail, which seems like a person wearing a blue coat with their tuxedo. I did not have an interchangeable-lens camera with me, but I tried to take good phone photos to illustrate the iridescent effect. Thankfully, Commons already has many good photos of black-billed magpies and iridescence in general.
