Six featured articles were promoted this week.

• Infinity Blade (nominated by PresN) A swordfighting video game for iPhones and iPad, in which one plays the bloodline of heroes, trying to defeat the immortal God King. Should the player fail at their quest, their descendant is brought in to replace them. It was the fastest-grossing iOS app of all time when it was released, and has spawned sequels and several free expansions.
• Grand Theft Auto V (nominated by CR4ZE) The fifth in a line of sandbox games by Rockstar Entertainment, released five years after its predecessor. It's likely everyone's heard of the series whether they're interested in it or not, suffice to say, players take on the role of a criminal in a large American city, and are given goals to complete, though most of the gameplay comes in sidequests and exploration.
• Ontario Highway 402 (nominated by Floydian) A highway stretching from near Sarnia to London, Ontario. Highway articles are a bit hard to summarize, but this is a well-written article, including history, construction, and notable events that happened upon it, including a First Nations protest.
• Oliver Bosbyshell (nominated by Wehwalt) Soldier for the Union in the American Civil War, and Superintendent of the Philadelphia branch of the United States Mint from 1889 to 1894. He claimed to be the first Union soldier injured by enemy action: a bruise caused by having an object thrown at his forehead by a Confederate sympathizer while his unit was marching through Baltimore in 1861.
• Thopha saccata (nominated by 99of9) A species of Austalian cicada said to be the loudest insect in the world. Also known as the "double drummer".
• SMS Emden (1908) (nominated by Parsecboy) One of only two Dresden-class cruisers, The Emden spent most of her career in the German East Asia Squadron at Tsingtao, which defended the Kiautschou Bay concession, one of many European enclaves formed within China in the 19th century. Soon after World War I began, she was assigned to act as a raider in the Indian Ocean, initiated and won the Battle of Penang, sinking a Russian cruiser, but was eventually forced to run aground off the Cocos Islands after battle with the Australian HMAS Sydney.

• Lo Nuestro Award for Pop Album of the Year (nominated by Javier Espinoza) An award for Latin-American Music awarded yearly since 1989. The most recent winner was 2014's Habítame Siempre by Thalía.
• Luis Aparicio Award (nominated by Bloom6132) A yearly award for the best Venezuelan player in Major League Baseball, named after the only Venezuelan player to be inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. This is a relatively short list—the award only having started in 2004—but provides ample context.
• 79th Academy Awards (nominated by Birdienest81) The 79th Academy Awards, hosted in February 2007, had multiple awards to The Departed, Pan's Labyrinth, An Inconvenient Truth, Dreamgirls, and Little Miss Sunshine.
• Deportation of Armenian intellectuals on 24 April 1915 (nominated by Étienne Dolet) Considered the start of the Armenian Genocide, this event marked the arrest and deportation of Armenian leaders in Constantinople, eventually leading to their murder by the state. Although a good portion of this is a list, it actually has quite a lot of information in it, and could easily be a featured article as well.
• Madonna filmography (nominated by Bluesatellite) While best known as a singer, Madonna has starred in quite a few movies, including Desperately Seeking Susan, A League of Their Own, Dangerous Game, and Evita.
• Priyanka Chopra filmography (nominated by Prashant!) An Indian actress, who starred in a variety of films, including the science-fiction film, Krrish, the action-thriller Don, the romantic thriller Aitraaz, the drama Fashion, the black comedy 7 Khoon Maaf, and the romantic comedy Dostana.
• List of Chief Ministers of Karnataka (nominated by indopug) The Chief Minister is the de facto head of the government of the south Indian state of Karnataka, being appointed by the state's governor. This well-balanced list has quite a bit of information about the position.

• The Raising of Lazarus (Rembrandt) (created by Rembrandt, nominated by Crisco 1492) With a subject taken from the Bible, The Raising of Lazarus shows one of Jesus' most significant miracles, when he brought back to life someone who had died days previously, and had already been buried. The article on the painting is excellent, and includes a gallery of an initial drawing and early etchings based on the painting.
• Kirinia roxelana (created by Gideon Pisanty, nominated by Crisco 1492) A small brown butterfly from southeast Europe and the Middle East from a woefully-underdeveloped article.
• Grains (created by Peggy Greb, nominated by The Herald) A picture showing various grains and products made from them, such as breads and biscuits.
• The Impact of Wikipedia by Adrianne Wadewitz (created by Victor Grigas and Adrianne Wadewitz, nominated by Cirt) Recently-deceased campaigner for Wikipedia in academia and women's rights, Adrianne Wadewitz, displays her passion for Wikipedia in this interview by Victor Grigas.

  The Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, winner of the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role (and only the second female to be so awarded with other being Kajol), had her filmography featured this week.
• 
  This painting by Rembrandt, The Raising of Lazarus, shows the culmination of the miracles listed in the Gospel of John: Jesus showing his power over death, just before his crucifixion. It is a new featured picture.

• I appreciate the editorial comment about the quality of The Raising of Lazarus (Rembrandt) article. I wrote a paper on the artwork for an Art History class and I was able to turn that paper into this article; a practice which I encourage all university students to do. Of course I'm not the sole contributor and those other editors have done well to improve on my work. Anyone visiting Los Angeles ought to see the work at LACMA where it now hangs. The oil on panel itself is rough looking and the selected featured picture does it reasonable justice. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:27, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
